remington model 7600
I'm wanting to buy a new rifle after this season. And i'm really liking remington's model 7600. I'm wanting to know what caliber is best for it and if there are any bad reviews about this model.[8D]

RE: remington model 7600
My 7600 is also a Whelen, the recoil was a bit stout and the first year I had it out hunting the wood got scratched so I put a synthetic stock with a softer recoil pad and it's a real nice gun to shoot now. Feels just like my 06. I would suggest 308, 7mm-08, 270 and of course the 30-06. Standard barrel length is 22" but there is a carbine available which I believe is 18".

about a month ago i got a7600 in 30-06 from scheels. it was on the used rack but was a floor modle gun so it had been played with a bit but was nearly brand new. they shoot really well and the action is good on them.

My 1st big buck(18" 10pt)was killed withmy 7600 .270. Ive never had any probs with gun. It shoots 1.5 " groups or better at 100yards. I use 140 grn hollow points or 130 BTs. This gun will be a very reliable addition. If your not much for recoil go with the 308 otherwise the 270 or '06 will work great.
Ive used this gun in allkindsof weather and when I was youngerprob didnt take care of it like I should for a few years and stillnever had a probwithit.

The 7600 while looked down on by Bolt action purists is actually a very effective and reliable hunting rifle. As accurate as many bolts and without the reliability issues of its semi auto sibling. As for which chambering, depends on what you hunt really. If elk and moose are what you hunt then an 06 or Whelen are great. If deer only then a .270 would be my choice.

hey i have seen many of the 7600s and own one in a 30-06 but it dont matter which caliber you get they are all great guns. Just choose the calibre according to what your using it for. when i first got mine it didnt have a scope on it but i shot it open sights at 50 yds and put a 4 bullet group in about.25 inches. Get one its one of the best guns ive shot.
