Savae 110 series (110, 116 etc al) with the acutrigger. Acurate cheap and nearly indestructable. About 479.99 anywhere. this leaves you more money for a good scope. HArd to beat the 30'06

I own a Rem. 710 in 30-06 and if u like 700's then the 710 is a great bargain choice. It's the same action but in a cheaper package and can usually be picked up w/ scope for way less than a 700. Scope on mine was decent (busnell banner, replaced by Bushnell with coated lens so I could stay on field longer and still see through my scope) and rifle shoots tight groups using Winchester Super-x 180 grain power point rounds.

If I had a $575 budget, if I couldn't find something in the want ads or bulletin boards, I would go to my local gun store and make an offer on a good name, clean used gun either with or without a scope (with a scope only if it was a top quality scope). I've seen several very clean, top line 30-06's lately in the gun shops for around $400. Less expensive lines of guns for correspondingly less. Just as a quick example, in two gun shops I trust a lot, lately I've seen very nice looking Browning A Bolt, Tikka, Ruger MK II (synthetic/stainless) all within your price range assuming you'd need another $150 to $200+ to add a quality new or used scope.
Don't be afraid of a used scope from one of the top names... If you buy, for instance a Leupold scope, they have a lifetime, any owner, no questions warantee and if for some reason it isn't perfect, you just send it to them and they will make it like new (speaking from experience). So, for a used price you'd be getting a scope with manufacturer back up just like new. I've been told other companies are as good on this, but I only have experience with Leupold. If you haven't done it, mounting a scope and getting it bore sighted is an easy DIY, or very cheap for a gun shop to do for you.
Have fun!

Handi rifle for around 250-270 and spend the rest on a scope and mounts.
I do agree though, the savages with the new triggers would be pretty nice. I used to own a 110E in 30-06 and it was a pretty nice rifle. I paid $150 for it though from a guy that didn't want it. The bolt had never even been put in the gun. His mom and dad bought it for him for christmas or something and all he did was duck hunt. I had now idea what it was worth when I got it until I saw one in a gun store later.

I recently purchased a Remington 700 adl with the synthetic stock and matte finish barrel. It was 379.00 at Wally world. I put a Bushnell 3x9x40 scope on it for about 100.00, rings and installed at a gun shop. Bore sighted it and then after about 4 shots at close range had it shooting 1.75" high at 100 yards. First 3 shot group was just a hair over .75". I really like mine and tend to use my rifles pretty hard. With the synthetic stock and matte finished barrel, it should be pretty durable. I have always like the feel and actionof the 700. All told, I've got about 500.00 invested in it.

You can pick up one of those Remington 710 synthetic stocked with a 3-9x scope at WalMart for $324 here in Roanoke, VA. It's not the most elegant looking rifle out there, but neither is my Rem. 597 and it shoots good. They also have a Mossberg ATR 100 in .30-06 for $244. I don't know anything about those, but Mossberg makes a sturdy shotgun. Hopefully, their rifles are accurate and well built for the long haul.

If you go right now I believe Dicks is having a sale on a Remington 700 with a Leupold scope (probably a rifleman, but a good one none the less) for right around the price you're looking at
