Default Rail lube alternative

I shoot the Titan 200# xbow.

The rail lubes that archery stores sell in the UK is kinda pricey.

I see that hunters on US forums say that silicone spray works very well when applied to a cloth and rubbed onto the rail.

Do you think this stuff would work?

Thanks for any advice

The rail lube I purchased looks and feels like she silicone grease used to install electrical terminations on hi-voltage cable.

Simple. Aresole spray with silicone. Spray onto rag and wipe on deck. Not greasy, won't attract dirt.

I don't use rail lube. PTFE Teflon tape is much cleaner. You will have to search on eBay for your own country but here's a link for what to look for. On eBay just type in teflon adhesive and go with the appropriate width for your rails. Make sure to clean the gunk off with a degreaser before you install.

I shoot excaliburs so can't comment on compounds and the effect they have on the rail. I've only had it on about a year but shoot a lot throughout the warm months. Maybe 1500-2000 shots on it. If it wears through no big deal, comes in 10 m rolls. Just pull off and put more on. Or go back to sliming the rails.

Me too! I use Turtle Wax Blue on my rail. Doesn't attract grit and grime to it...works like a charm, is waterproof and so much easier!

I apply a coat every-so-often, simply wipe it off. Done. No screwing around every 20 shots like a Rail Lube has to be applied.

I also founf that Armor All Protectant used on car interiors works very well too. Slick as He11 !!!

PS I just read recently that Manufacturer's state that Vaseline will eventually breakdown the bowstring / serving material(s).

Not sure if this is a sales or marketing strategy or BS or what honestly?
