Default Crossbow for women?

All,

Newbie here, so please be gentle. I did a search but did not find anything.

My wife & I would like to start using a crossbow for Turkey & Deer. After some research, we felt that the Excalibur Phoenix or Vortex would be the best fit. So we went to a store to check them out and my wife cant pull the string. She is in very good shape, but just cant pull it all the way up; she would need to be taller by a few inches.

Has anyone ran into this problem and what are the solutions? Are there any "tricks" to pull the string that we could use? I like the Excalibur's but not locked into them either so open to suggestions.

Thanks for any input! I appreciate it.

G.

If she's not using a rope ****er, try using one. If she already is uisng one, shorten the ****er rope 3-5 inches so that she has to pull the bowstring up to the second hook. That will give her more 'reach.' If still difficult to ****, try the Vixen.

Yep! Cossack is giving you good direction. Do not shy away from the Vixen, it was used to kill a record moose in Ontario and that's big!

All of the top brands have cranks available. The Excal specificaly, if that is the brand you settle on, has their own crank, or the Tenpoint Accudraw crank can be retrofitted onto the bow....

Thanks for all the input everyone.
We are going to check out the Vixen II. The place we had been to did not have it in stock nor did they suggest it. Found another place now that has them.

Cheers
