added that site to my favorites...good prices if they can deliver.....makes me wonder why they can sell for so much less than everyone else......maybe its like gasoline always going up even when oil goes down....states are finally realizing the popularitly of xbow's so the price goes up.....go figure... thanks for the info, definitely my backup source....

Because they are not "authorized dealers" for the product they sell and only buy from distributors. This means that they skirt the MAP policies of the manufacturers and warranty becomes an issue because they have to send all claims back to the warehouse and not directly to the manufactuer so you are not only held up waiting for any claim to process thru, but you loose any and all customer service from the manufactuer...especially if you mention where you got it from to some..You are MUCH better off dealing with an authorized dealer and every manufacturer has a dealer link on thier website so you can find one either close to you, or confirm that if you want to go mail order you are covered by an authorized dealer...

RE: Barnett?
u mention warranty(I know u are more informed than I on this subject but i am curious)when purchased thru an internet dealer and i fill out a warranty card which comes with the product and send it back to the company direct why would one go back thru the internet dealer to service a warranty problem? My brother bought from a internet dealer who was not a "authorized parker dealer" and he had a string and cable problem and they sent him new string an cables direct to his home...when this MAP pricing went into effect parker xbow prices jumped as much as $225.00 plus they discontinued the rope cocker and bolts ETC; Me as a consumer I see a $275.00 increase in a product that the company didn't improve on....so all I see as a consumer is my hard earned $275.00 XTRA going into someones pocket when the product wasn't made better....this is just my thoughts maybe I'm wrong but these are tough times......

Well, no bow that I know of went up that much, but yes, they did go up in price and yes they are coming with less product. The MAP structure is a tad weird from a customers view (and in this particular case there is a bit of a hard pill to swallow with the removal of product) but it actually works to maintain value of a product gaurenteeing its availability thru multiple locations (meaning that your average small retailer can compete with the big boys so you are not stuck going to just one or two dealers who control the pricing) and it also allows for a fair profit so that those shops actually stay open to service your purchase ( our costs went up too...it was not just the retail pricing that went up). Every manufacturer is a tad diferant, but warranty issues arrise when you have to send in the bows for repair. The problem becomes one of where did the bow come from. An authorized dealer gets direct service from the manufacturer, where if it was purchased thru an non authorized dealer the return has to be arranged thru the distributor...and in the middle of season that slows everything up. Something small like a string the manufacturers will probably deal directly, but in many instances the "you need to bring it back to your dealer" comment throws a log jam into the works. The other issue is that the manufactures are cracking down on lower than MAP dealers and they are finding their sources drying up. There are a couple of threads on other forums where people are complaining they paid for a bow they cant get, when authorized dealers have them either on hand or readily available. There are rules to this game and if you dont follow the rules you eventually get eliminated from the game. As far as MAP pricing is concerned...there are ways to work with that if your dealer is sharp and not too greedy
