I like recurves because the simplicity of them. I can change strings in the field if needed. I have nothing against compound xbows,i plan on getting one real soon. Each have their pro's and con's. Whatever you decide, make sure the company that made it has good customer service, things happen!

Excal recurves, simple and easy to re-string in the field ...if necessary

Neither is "better" than the other. The simplicity and weight savings of a recurve is offset to some extent by more noise,a much widerbowand a slower speed compared to many compounds. Accuracy on most is very similar. You have the ease of maintainace factor on a recurve but beyond that it is more of a question of which bow you are comfortable with, how much you want to spend, and specs you are looking for (speed, noise, compactness, etc..). Try a bunch and see which one you like...dont decide on any brand till you can try a few for yourself and see what works for you..
