Default 2216 vs 2219 & 20" vs 17"

Ok.....I just bought my first CB. I got a PSE Rattler. Now, which bolt do I shoot? Manufacturer says 2216 @ 17" but my buddies tell me to go ahead and shoot the 20" 2219. They say they will knock down and penetrate the little piggies better.........I kinda think the 17" ones will probably fly flatter. Any help, ideas or comments will be welcomed. Give me a hooler......Can't wait to kill something.

Actually....the longer arrows fly better than the short ones. The longer the shaft and the more FOC you have the more leverage the fletchings have to stabilize the arrow in flight. If less energy is used to stabilize the arrow, it will fly straighter and flatter. Do some experimenting, but I have a feeling you will be shooting 20"

Yep......it came with some 17" bolts and my buddies gave me some 20".....I'll have to go shooting this weekend and see which is best......How about a hybrid? Shoot 20" bolts but 2216 instead of 2219.......I wonder if that'd work or if the shaft is too small a diameter for the length......That might be the best of both worlds, longer for stability yet lighter for flatter trajectory.

Okie, the 22/16 means that the arrow is 22/64 inch in diameter and the wall is 16 thousands thick same with the other arrows you can use any arrow in the 22 range, you could use a 22/13 20 inches long with a 125 grain tip
and increase the FOC and still fly flat, my preference would be the gold tip laser 2 with brass inserts. hope this helps.

Absolutely that helps....I had no idea what the numbers stood for. I never even thought about arrows at that level. Wow...a whole other bunch of stuff to consider. This is gonna cost me a little more than I told my wife.....I need to do some shopping. Thanks for your help.

$5.75 ea from Miller at [740] 483-2312. They will weigh 431 gr w/ 100 gr points. You need half moon nocks I believe, so watch that if ordering them. Where you at in Ok? Lets shoot some piggies!!

15 miles outta Mena, Ar. 8.5 miles from Ok border. As to arrow length, I had some custom 18" made for a buddy w/ Vixen, trying to pick up a few fps via lighter weight. They didn't shoot near as good as the 20", although they were good enough for hunting out to 30 yds.
