Default Colorado crossbow sights

Hi,

I have a permitt to use a crossbow during the Colorado archery season. I understand that I can't use a scope. Do most hunters use pins then?

Thanks for any help.

is it that you cant use any scoped sightin general or is itthat you cant use a telescopic sight(rifle scope), I'm not 100% sure but I believe that mostred dot sights arent classified as a telescopicsight(scope) because they have no magnification, they're considered to be what they're called, a red dot sight...

it may be worth checking out what the exact restrictions are, maybeyourallowed to use a red dot

I don't know the regs for using a crossbow in the archery season in Colo. but I know that if you decide to use it during a rifle season, they don't have any restrictions on sights. I still do shoot with pins (in rifle seasons) with mine here in Colorado because I like to keep both eyes open to see the bolt in flight (hard to do with powered scope). Pins have worked well for me but I thinka lot of crossbowsights aren't made to last (like mine when I got it) so I had to make my own to fit my crossbow.

Also, I think that the red dot sights would not work in the archery season because the regs read that you cannot have any battery operated device on your bow. This even includes the lighted nocks for arrows/ bolts. If you can see well and practice with them, sight pins work fine...worked great for this guy last year:

GLfisherman, where do you plan to hunt this year? I assume you live here in Colorado. Grndhntr
