RE: O/T...snowmoble....
I live in west central wisconsin and have two snowmobiles, although anymore I cant really justify why...
its hard to ride a snowmobile when there isnt any snow and lately we just havent been getting any, I think I rode mine a grand total of two times last year, the year before wasnt much more and the year before that wasnt either, my kids race them around more than I do...

Hopefully you got some of the 12" we got last week (more on the way tomorrow), that will cure your itch.
I never even started mine last year other then to prep it. After last night, I'll be doing that first thing today. Took my 4 wheeler out on the ice to do the maiden voyage of my new portable ice shelter. The weight of 12" of snow caused slush to form under the snow. That and the deep snow caused one of the wheels on the 4 wheeler to freeze, preventing it from turning. All I could do was go around in small circles. My buddy pulled it off with his Ranger, after I hiked the half mile to his house, well after dark, in -5 temp. It's been in the shop thawing all night. Worse thing, this all happened as the fish were just starting to bite. Can't wait to get back on the ice.
PS I'm thinking the folks south of the Mason Dixon Line are thinkin': "You did WHAT?!"

No one's been on our lake yet, dont know if I want to be the 1st.The snow has pushed up the ice along the shore and its slushy under the snow but with the sub-zero temps and tonight its going to be -20deg's so that should help, maybe someone will drive out tomorrow on it...Moved my Frable(spl) portable down buy the lake to get ready, today was my last day of work for 3 months not unless I go back and work for Magnum Trucking for awhile,we will have to see what unemployment pays...

My brother used to have a snowmobile and it was pretty fun. But in my neighborhood it only get used a few times a year. Most fun I can have with snow is the ski place about an hour away. They are the highest point in Ohio and they make there own snow. Right now they have a 24" base built up and I may get to go Tuesday, but not sure. Its a lot of fun, but hard on the legs!

We used to ski behind the snowcat(who needs a hill).Back in the 60's early 70's dad used to take us boys out in the country and put the tailgate down on the Ford LTD wagon, tie a rope on the back and pull us down the road,we would ride the tabogen in the ditches then would also put the ski's on and do the same...Not too many hills in this here flat country.Awww the good old days.....

theres actually plenty of snow for snowmobiling here now, I'm going to have to digmy snowmobile out from the corner of the garage when I get a little time, I have about $60 worth of carb work to do to it anyway, it developed the famous polaris leaking needle/seat problem

I heard on the radio about a week ago of some 60 year old man that went through the ice on his four wheelier and drown before they could get to him, I cant remember exactly when it was though

we used to do that all the time when wewere younger too, looking back on itit wassome pretty dangerous stunts too, its surprising noone was ever seriously hurt
great fun when your a teenage kid but I dont think I'd try it anymore, I've noticed over the years that the older you get the more pain becomes a concern... I dont bounce quite as well as I used too and it takes me a little time to pick myself up off the ground now...
