Random Questions.
Hello everyone, First I'd like to say I like the forum a lot, tons of info for a person new to Crossbow Hunting.
I went out and bought a Horton Supreme Crossbow a couple weeks back and so far am loving it. Seems very accurate and arrow speeds seem quite good as well. So far I have been able to consistently hit about a 2.5-3 in target nearly everytime from about 25-30yrds and semi-consistantly from 50 yrds.
My first question is: Now as I am new to crossbow hunting would you consider this a good enough varible distance to good out and hunt the real thing not just targets? (The last thing I want is just to wound the deer or hog)
Second Question: Also what do you guys think of the Horton Supreme? Would you consider it a Crossbow worth it weight for actually hunting or should I look into something better?
Third Question: What type of Broad head/tip would you reccomend for Deer and/or Hogs?

RE: Random Questions.
I prefer to keep my hunting shots to 30 yards. I can hit softball sized targets out to 50 yards ffhand; but they don't move with the sound of the string.
If you're happy with Horton then your Horton is good. I'm Happy with a Parker and an Excaliber.
Try the Slick Trick Mag. either in 100 or 125 gr weight. I'd go with the 125 to give you a bit more weight forward (check out FOC on web). It's relatively small and has 4 blades that will help keep it from planing the bolt off target. Best of all it delivers absolutely great terminal performance. From my bows they tend to fly to the same point as field points, saving me on broadheads and targets. Be sure the FP's you practice with are the same weight as the braodheads. Good luck. Wecome to the world of horizontal bows.
