Need advice on a barnett quad 400
I am able to purchase a brand new in the box quad 400 for 290.00(scope,quiver and 4 arrows included)and or the 400 AVI model for 30.00 more. I also plan on buying the cocking device for 120.00. As x-bows are illegal to use in NYS but I feel that may change w/i the next couple of years so for right now it will be used only for target practice. Is this a decent bow and is that a good price. Is there much of a difference between the two. any input would be appreciated

While there are lots of happy Bnett guys, I'm not one of them. Had three over the years, and had problems w/ all three. The last one was the very Quad 400 you mention. It blew up while I was bench resting it trying to get better than 3" groups at 20 yds w/ it's 12-15# trigger pull. Don't know anything about their new stuff, and don't want to, lol. I'd go w/ another brand if I were you.

save your and buy a hunting xbow not a toy.
horton excaliber tenpoint are all quality xbows and can be had at a reasobile price.
i have a hoton dakota that shoots aswell after 12 yrs and thousands of shots
as it did new.
buy quality remember it will be right next to yer eyeballs.

I own a Quad 400 that is relegated to the attic. Spend a little more and get a Barnett Revolution SX:Killedtwo deer and three hogs with mine. The Revolution XS holds xero much better than the Quad 400.If you have good upper body strength pass on the cocking device and get a cocking rope for about $30.

Hey yote! where's your B-nett now? Was it the fact that they closed up shop in bankruptcy or receivership this spring for 3-4 weeks, didn't take phone calls or answer e-mails or send out parts or tell people what was up w/ their broken xbows that sent you else where?? Lol, I'm on 21 xbow forums, B-nett are the most problematic mentioned on them, followed by Horton Dial-A-Rage problems. For those that are impressed by the Quad 400's 340 fps, all I can tell ya is I have an Exomax, which could shoot 355 fps, it sits and watches me shoot a Phoenix at 286 fps. Speed kills, but it's not just the game that gets whacked, lol.

Naw,it was all the in-put on all the different forums that got my wife and
myself concerned, she had bought it for me off of e-bay and when I had
asked which one was the best buy it was a choice between Horton and
the Barnett. She felt bad about her choice and I had the only problem
that I had with the bow fixed by my gun smith and both were shooting ok
when I sold them on the advice from another member on this forum. One
ended up in my hunting partners hands and was still going ok when he
sold it and bought one of my Parkers.I guess people shoot what they can
afford and when you are starting out you try to get into the sport as
frugle as you can sometimes and if I remember you told me of your trials
with the one you had.I pmed you and as you said I shot it quite a bit more then my wifes with no problems and am glad that I did not experince
what you did.as an entry bow,I dont lnow if I would buy one now,but they were not all bad but the gamble is not worth it,guess I was looking
at the performance I had out of mine, but there again I can remember
checking limbs with cotton balls to be safe, dont want any one to go
thru that,so If i have offended any one I apologise, just know that mine
worked for me andto each his own, would I reccomend one,no would I
sell one of my Parkers for one,no and wont comment again thanks for
all the help in the past,Coyote 170 said that, see me.
