Default Horton scope 4x32

I just purchased a used cross bow for my son, it is shooting great. I have the top set of crass hairs set at 20 yards, I notice that the third line (40 yard line) has more of a gap between it and the 30 yard line, about twice the gap. Is this normal?

yes. Its because it drops off a lot at 40 yards.

You may beat the start of a frustrating journey. The larger gap is normal for the faster drop off at longer ranges. The problem you may have that alot of guys have had with that scope is not being right on at the thirty and forty. I had it on two different Horton's, a slow one, and one of Horton's fastest ones and it was not right on for either one. You may end up playing a hold over just a little or under a little for the 30 and 40. It is set for what they consider a average CB speed and arrow. But I have yet to get one. A guy at work has the three dot version and I think his CB is in the 300 FPS range and he says that his is pretty much right on for the 30 and 40. I am not trying to discourage you, just trying to give you a heads up if when your 20 is right on, but you cant seem to get your 30 and 40 right on. Keep us posted on how you do. How is the center serving on the string of the CB? and the cables? What arrows are you using and are you familiar with archery equipment?

ive got the same scope on a horton supermag shooting 260fps and a horton legend xt shooting about 310. What i noticed is with my supermag the first crosshair i use for 10 2nd 20 3rd 30 and so on. On my legend its dead nuts at 20 1stcosshair2" high at 30 2nd crosshair and 1" high at 40 3rd crosshair. i find that fairly acceptable. Im shooting spitfire 100gr and rage 100gr 2 blades with horton mx alum. Hope this was of some help. Any questions about hortons hit me up ive delt with alot when it comes to them.

Make sure to buy some rail lube to keep you're rail lubed up good i add just a tiny dot to mine everytime i shoot it and spread it around. It will save you're serving in the long run. Make sure to keep you're serving waxed upwell also that seems to help.

The string is as old as the cb (about 6 yrs) I am going to have it replaced. There are a few different ones that were with the cb when I bought it. There are Eastons and Horton both aluminum. Yes I am familiar with archery equipment, more the compound bow than the cbs. So any information is welcome. Thanks for the information on the scope.
