Default OT... Big flood!

Wanted to share this since some of you may have seen my town on CNN or Fox News. We had a flood that came within .04 hundredths of a inch of the 1913 flood! Alot of people had water in there homes that thought they where always safe from the river. Today the water had went down enough in my wifes grandmothers house and I had to pump down the basement and clean out all the garbage. Then me and my brother volunteered to help out and emptied out some elderly people'sbasement! What a mess for sure. We are on the north end of town and are far enough away to not ever have to worry about it. Here is a few pics of the downtown area.

And here is a pic of a area with homes in it.

I hate to see that happen to people. Now words of wisdom from my Pa in the mid 50's! He showed me the Ms. river and said boy them rivers flood and ruin every thing the water gets into. Then he showed me big hills and hollers and said they don't get flooded! He smiled and said thats why we live in them hills. Were poor and can't afford to get wiped out every few years!

That's awful! It is terrible the devastion and damage from flooding. I live where it doesn't usually flood. But even some of the lakes are flooding peoples houses here in northeastIN. Not near as bad, but they are sandbagging to try to keep the water out. Some homes are already flooded. I imagine the people wholive along the Elkart River are flooded out also. Hope the water goes down soon for you all.

Well Jason, if there is a positive side to such a disaster maybe the deer will be concentrated on the land you hunt. Hope you and yours are fending OK. Yuh just can't hope back the water.
The town next to me want 13 million dollars to repair the seawalls around their million dollar homes. Thes homes are on beaches I can't even park at. The brightside to that is that here in MA colonial law still rules and you can fish between the mean tides and their is nothing they can do about it.
The trick around here which most don't know about is that all you have to do is cast your Zebco 202 into the ocean and suck up the rays anyway. I have had guards on the Vineyard private beaches tell me to move along. I always suggest that they Bl%* me.
Good luck..

Thanks guys! Just wanted to share since maybe some of you may have seen on the CNN or Fox news. Like I said we are on the north end and are high and dry, like you said smoke, building next to water is just plain stupid and I never plan to do it. Today I spent most of the day at food lines. We handed out two semi's worth of food and water. It was a good time helping people.
