The vanes do have abit of offset, but its not enough to cause that much wrinkling. How long are those vanes? If longer than 4" sure may hit going down rails and arrow channel. Maybe cheap a$$ed vanes and being thin causing the problem. I had bad trouble with 5" feathers and 11 degree LH helical fletching out of my Phoenix. Had go to 4" to clear.

I believe when I measured them when I got them home, they were almost 4 3/4" long. (beenover 6 months)I will see about getting them redone and go to some 4" vanes. I wanted a different color vane also. Buddy told me to try a single blue vane with the others green, orange,or whatever. Whole point is that blue will stick out more if you loose an arrow target practicing or if you shoot a critter. Unless you have a BlueJay or poision dart frog problem.

Thanks for all the help and suggestion you guys are offering. I hope this eliminates this issue. I enjoy shooting the bow, and will take it with me in the middle of hunting season as taking the blackpowder gun just to change things up.

If they aren't burying up in the target and not contacting the rails, I'm not sure what's going on. I've seen vanes look like that after a few passes through a whisker bisquit but not from a crossbow. It almost looks like the vanes are fluttering and taking a set from that. See pick below...

Do you have any idea what brand vanes those are?

The arrow stops just enough into the target for me to pull them from it without my hand touching the vanes. Thevanes I am shooting now are the ones that came on the Horton Lightning Strike MX Aluminum arrows. The 6 arrows that came with the Xbow did the same exact thing. Don't know what type of arrows they were.

Its almost like the plastic vanes are stretching during flight and once its over the memory of the plastic goes back but got too much stretch and wringle.

That is totally weird! The only time my vanes do that is when they go into the target to far or when I pull arrows out and hand slips past vane. This is going out on a limb but you guys tell me if this sounds nuts. Could his CB be set up for a real wide, fatshaft arrow and his arrows could be setting too deep into the arrow grove and then the downward pressure as the arrow is being shot from the string is wrinkling the vane as it is going down the track? That is the only thing I can think of if it is not hand or target related. Has to be how it is going down the track somehow. Can use measure your gap on your CB? Mine on my Horton looks to be right at 1/4 inch and the Excal looks to be maybe just a hair under 1/4. That all could be way off base, just trying to think out loud with ideas.

Funny you mention that. I looked yesterday at a quick glance where the fletching is in the rail of the crossbow. (uncocked naturally) and its close but its not touching the bottom of the rail. Also when the arrow is put into place with the gun cocked the bottom fletching sit pretty darn center of the rail opening. Will measure it when I get home though. I could see if the fletching was rubbing down one side of the rail as its being released and fubar'ing the fletching,

But I always shoot with the same exact off color fletching in the rail and the 2 alike colors up. All 3 fletchings on the arrow are showing this wave pattern so led me look else where.

I haven't chrono'ed my bow, but its said to shoot around 265fps or so. (want to get it chrono'ed badly) Which compared to other bows my bow is slow. Don't hear of way faster bows doing this. I have looked and looked on the internet at different xbow forums for people having a similar problem but didn't see anything on the problem.

I will look at getting some better fletchings and see about different sizes to try and see what works.

Again thanks for everyones help.

i've had that wrinkling happen with cheap vanes. i'd try another brand and i think you'll have better luck.
