Default Fletching Bolts

Starting to pick up some stuff to do my won bolts, jig, Goat tough glue, vanes etc.
Heard today that finding a glue that will make vanes stick to carbon is tricky.
Would like to hear on the subject from those who have actual experience.

Ive had no problem with fletch-tite on my carbons or alum..But then again Ive only used it with all my arrows with vert compound's....Have'nt had the chance to fletch any for the CB yet.I wreck my arrows before I get a chance too.....ok Ive only ruined 5 arrows.

Went thru a slew of super glues. Screwed some vanes up, glue set too quick to get the cap on my AZ-EZ. Went to gel, still had some problems but not as many. then I started painting my shafts and got some Bohning glue, thought I was getting Goat Tuff, had called bow monkey in town, daid he had GT but didn't. This works well on blazers too. I paint em one day, fletch the next.

The thing to remember with superglue gel is that it's pressure sensitive. You need to press the vane against the shaft and apply light pressure for about 15 seconds to get a good bond.

I used to use fletch-tite then platinum but both just got where my vanes would fall off during shoots. My noks would pop out after hitting target and i would be repairing 4 of the 6 when i got home. Switched to Goat tuff glue.

aweshucks: What do you paint them with?

smokepole: How do you prep your carbon bolts prior to fletching?

cossack i will have to let my carbon advisors handle this. awshucks and DNK the dynamic duo! I just use alum. shafts of which i use acetone or rubbing alcohol. If i get sloppy i will use my Capt. Morgan![8D]
