Hi Guys, best xbow for around 500.??
Hi Guys , just a poll to see what xbow is best and why, considering many factors in hunting, I live in SD , and will be hunting Deer, Antelope, possibly Elk, and coyotes "called in", using tree stands and ground blinds, My doc has been telling me to hang up the compound ,and finally my body agrees. So here I am a new member on this site (I've been on for a while) Thanks for all your Input. Fishead

John, most if not all can be had with Cocking Cranks and some have Advantages over the others as far as user friendly in the field.
As for poundage, what do you plan to hunt the most? I plan on hunting Florida White Tail and Hogs only, therefore all I would need is (my choice) a Vixen Excalibur.
All crossbows will kill, dead is dead, but poundage will increase the size of game you want to hunt!

For that kind of money you can pick among the best, I have a 10 point and know several places where a Titan is available for the price or I also have an exocet and I do believe that dollar for dollar you just can not beat it and for a bonus it has the least up keep and things to go wrong of any.
Believe it or not one of the main considerations should be how tall you are as well as how strong unless you intend to use a crank type cocking mechanism. Lee

Hi guys, to answer your questions, I will targetshoot a lot this summer, but mostly to learn the ins and outs. My dad had one a few years back so I am somewhat familiar with a crossbow, however the techenology is always changing. I am 6 ft tall and cocking a 150 without a crank will not be a problem, what is the pheniox like I looked at one at cabelas , thanks Guys, JG

Actually all but the Vixen are look a likes! Only difference is the length of the rail! Thats what makes the weight class, Phoenix 175, Exocet 200, Exomax 225! The Vixen is 150 and has the different stock color and shortest rail! Everything interchanges with each model!

Fishead, the more you shoot the more you'll need an Excalibur. If you are only going to shoot a couple of hundred shots a year then there are lots of choices. Excaliburs are light, all models have great triggers, fast and have few moving parts. The lower power models are powerfull enough for moose and are not expensive. You'll probably never have to take it to a bow shop and you can even make your own strings!
