RE: New Exocet
Lee, I installed dry fire inhibitors on my three xbows, took a piece of masking tape on the inside of rt limb [I'm left handed] and wrote w/ magic marker ARROW??? DUMMY??? haven't had one since, but pull the tape off when my buddies come to shoot, lol. Henry has a good point about remembering the manual safety,I would think it would be easier if you never had an xbow w/ one that goes on automatic from cocking. I got into the habit early on of flicking the safety on before taking the rope cocker off. And, in closing, I put an Ecet together and sighted it in about two weeks ago for a friend, took about 1/2 hr and was dead on 20 - 30 yds.

We all know to keep fingers and thumbs and toes below the the rail while shooting. I am like awshucks, i put safety on soon as i have cocked CB with my rope cocker and haven't removed it. Next thing i do is load it! Make surearrow seats in bottom.

Masking tape!! That is some funny stuff!!
My dry fires are never accidental, I cock the bow, aim it and pull the trigger..I may have to try Awshucks idea, I wonder if the tape will come flying off when I forget to read it and do it anyways?
Good choice in bows by the way! I did a pile of research before I ended up in the same situation as you, and never had a regret.

Actually Lee I am not in favour of any auto saftey or dryfire devices. All these devices are mechanical and No Mechanical Device Should Ever Be Fully Trusted. I was taught this when going through trade school and it has stuck with me. Learn the proper way and always be aware of your hunting tool of choice. Saftey is upmost IMPORTANT & the only true saftey comes from your mind (the way you think and behave).
The vixen, being the lightest hunting bow produced by excalibur (but still has more then enough power to take deer or even moose) will be the quiet compared to the others. I do believe that the DP-Bars are an option on the Vixen. You can easily add it yourself if that is what ou want. But about adding other sound damping devices, anything added ahead of the limbs will subtract speed from our arrow and I would not recomend doing that. Remember, if you could totally eliminate the sound from the crossbow, you still have the sound from the arrow when in flight and it is loud!!!!!
Good luck and enjoy.
