I don't know what the nature of the question was, or who it was directed to, but I do know that if it was a technical question then although the "founders" answer may feel good to hear it certainly doesn't mean it is correct.
Once a "founder" has established his/her company he typically moves on to make that business grow.. The "founder" of Wall Mart would have no idea what kind of wax is used on the floor, or why.. However, if asked, he/she would stick to a routine answer that would fit within the companies policies, and of course it wouldn't go against anything he/she has said in the past, written or verbal.
A founders job isn't to answer the publics questions, his or her job is to hire someone that can answer those questions. Skipping that process would undoubtedly make the person asking the question a topic of conversation in the office, not a good topic either.
