Default What R U hunt'n?

I know we're hunting deer, but what kind of deer are you hunting? Bucks, Does, Fawns, Spikes or what? Are you meat hunting, or hunting for something to hang on the wall? Everyone, I'm sure, is hunting something different and I for one would like to know what? Everyone has a reason to hunt something special or just hunt for the venison meat.
Ok, I'll go first. LOL.
The first deer of the season I try to just get meat. There is just me and the wife as the kids are grown and gone so one deer is enough for us to eat. Then I mostly big buck hunt. You know, something to hang on my wall and at least bigger than what I have already. I have two families that are needy and need the meat and if they ask me to get them a deer, I will if the conditions are right to do so. By that I mean, a big doe comes in by herself and not nervous or looking back for other deer and is totally alone, I'll take her for the needy family. Or it can be a spike buck, for which I did take this year for this very purpose. I won't shoot at a deer if it's with other deer for the simple reason of, it'll put too much pressure on the other deer to come back in the near furture for hunting purposes. The only exception to this would be, Great Granddaddy Big Rackus! That's a whole nother ball of wax. I have been blessed by the good Lord this season with two big 8 pointers so I have a couple doe tags left to fill.
Anyway, this is my hunting game. I'd like to know what my friends here hunt for. I think it'll surprise most of you by what some will say.

If its brown its down! LOL! Well I have a couple of tags so if it get that far I will hold off for something bigger on the last tag. Other than that I'm getting desperate for something to wack! I still have 150 to 200 lbs of moose, mulie and elk in the freezer so I'm not Jonesing for meat just a good time! LOL!

I am hunting two different ones. One, I am after a nice young tender doe, a fawn will do in a pinch if it gets late on me but just not an old momma doe. Then I am looking for a nice buck. I prefer the young doe's for the freezer but I have taken three nice eight pointers out of the woods I hunt so this year I wanted to try and do better. The only problem I am having this year is the right deer in the wrong spot. I am only allowed two deer in my part of Ohio. The spot that I have got the bucks from has a farmer that hates deer with a passion, and he insist that I need to take a doe's, he does not threaten me with hunting permission but just wants the heard down. So I am wanting to take a nice buck or a doe there, only have had small bucks within range and no does! The other spot, the swamp or marsh spot I have had does within range several times but no bucks. This year is more like a late scouting trip for this spot, but if I see a nice buck in the swamp I will take it!

I like does for quality, bucks for quantity of meat.I don't do mounts, have nothing against those that do, but can get another toy for what they cost and can recall it all by looking at the horns on barn wall. I like 2-3 yr olds, but will take whats offered. Around here, they run dogs in gun season, again, not for me, but have no problem w/ their way of hunting. I find that a deer thats been pressed hard is not the best table fare. I have from Oct 1 to Feb 28th and am willing to wait my turn.

Seeing as it's been a rough season in our area, I'm just looking for some meat to fill our freezer. A nice doe would be great.... but I don't think I'd pass up a nice buck if I saw him

I'm new to bow hunting. I didn't see a thing during rifle season. So, I am looking to shoot a deer. I'm not picky. Any deer will do.
