I have two Excal recurves, wax the string about every 40 shots or so, it will smell funny when the string needs wax, spray the trigger and safety w/ "Tri-Flow" a good Teflon lube from Mal-Wart. Don't get my strings reserved as new ones are only 8 or 9 bucks, and I get 200-300 or better outta them.

I think that Barnetts demand a little more care than other crossbows. Wax the flight track after every five shots or so. Wax the serving on the stringafter every five to ten shots. Do not forget to wax the entire string and thecablesabout every 40 shots-the whole cable. Do not be stingy with the wax-really put it on.It is a good Idea to take it downat least once a yearand wax the cables where they cross in the slot, otherwise they will fray there.
I shoot the Quad 400 a lot. It took a long time tolearn how to care for the thing.
