Not Today
Even though I didn't take a deer today I had a great hunt. Most people can't understand that you don't have to kill something to have a great hunt.I now have to hunt horizontal due to Kentucky law butwanted to sharemy story. This morning was rather cool I think around 30 degrees, with little to no wind. I wasin my stand behind the house about 45 minutes before sunrise. I had 2 doe come in to about 20 yards, thought real hard about taking one but decided to let em go. About 1 hour later had a "big" 4 pointer come to within 5 yards before he decided that something wasn't right, 15 minutes later another "big" one came to within 15 yards, just a shame he was only a spike! Now I'm not a trophy hunter but have vowed that this year I will take a nice buck! Well any way just wanted to let you guys hear my story. Getting deer that close always gets my blood going! Thanks for listening!

RE: Not Today
You know what I really love is "trying" to control my heart rate when I see deer. Its beating so fast and I can hear it & if I can hear it they've got to hear it as well, ha. Yea to me its the thrill of the hunt and to just get to be there with the hope and anticipation of seeing & perhaps taking a beautiful animal is more than enough reward. As you know those smaller bucks if they live long enough will just have better racks as time goes on. Good for you & them too.
