Default Shoots Great out to 40.. then

After a few shots it seems I have to re-sight in. Last night I was dead on out to 40. Then today I was low at 20 so i had to adjust the V-zone.. Then I was dead on again. Then later on I shot some more and was dead on at 40 then all of a sudden i started shooting high... Had to re-sight again.. Now I'm dead on again..

I'm pretty sure my scope is tighten down. But maybe not enough???

Any ideas?

Your the one with the broken scope right? Maybe that floaty thing is messing your scope up?

Sorry, maybe it was redtail? Again, sorry for the mix up and I do not have that problem. If your scope is tight I do not know what to tel ya.

Curious what string you are using, and what brace height it's at, same both times?? I'd almost bet it's the arrows, can you shot 20, 30, 40 at the same time? Did you blue loc tite the 4 screws on mount and the two big wheel nuts that hold rings to mount? I don't loc-tite the screws in the rings as they never seem to come loose for me.

are you using a cocking device, if the string isn't being pulled back the same on each shot it will definately give you issues with being consistant and will appear to be losing its zero.

when actuallythe boltsare coming off differently each time its not pulled back the same way, the bolts will shift around as they exit the xbow.

best of luck getting it corrected & happy hunting

I am using the Excel string. My Brace height hasn't changed since i've shot it a few times and twisted the string to set it just over an inch from the front. I using the rope cocking device and I have the string marked with whiteout so i know its cocked the same everytime.. I used lock tight on the mount and did put a little on the Bigger ring screws but i think i might have to do it again because i could tighten them yesterday.. I'm afraid of stripping them. I had a pair from Dunhams that stripped real easily when i tightened them.

Mathewsboy: Field tips right? Looks more and more like arrows to me guy. Slightly bent alums will drive you crazy, lol. I can only relate my experiences. I've got a hodge podge of arrows here, couple of this, two or three of that. Even though they weigh the same as each other, they won't group like my GT's. It's also my opinion that your ring nuts have to get fairly loose to matter, just being able to crank them a tad shouldn't be your problem. Good luck, keep us posted.

Well.. Last night I shot three shots and was just a tad low at 30.. and I ended it.. I'll shoot today and see if anything changes..

By the way.. The arrows are XX78 SuperSlam 2213's They are brandnew, and when rolled look straigt as and arrow. I shot broadheads at 30 and 40 and was dead on on the first shot at 40.. I hit a 50 cent piece of paper with the Muzzy Broadhead..

So.........Keep testing..

I put a new string on this year and noticed the same thing. Some guy at the range said his will shoot crazy until he has 50 or so shot on a new string. I think he was right on, becauseafter I got about 100 shots on the new string it settled, and has shot consistant since then.
