Damn Jason, you’ve been studying.

When I bought my Horton it came with the half moon bolts and that’s what I shot with good results. I was at a pro shop and wanted to buy more bolts but they didn’t have that style. They told me that the flat backs would give me even better results because the string wouldn’t have to hunt for the back of the arrow so to speak. Well I took their advise and bought a bunch with flat backs. I will say that they are shooting dead on but so weren’t the half moons so to avoid any errors I’ve stuck with the flat backs.

When I get home from work tomorrow I’m heading out back with my half moons and a hand full of flat backs and see what I get.

By the way, how the hell do you guys know all this stuff. See what happens when you take the summer off from the forum. Ya miss the learning curve.

Well roger it all depends on what one you have. If you have a CB older than say three years it probally has the standard barrel. If you got one last year there's about a fifty/fifty chance you have the micro flight barrel. And all but two of the models this year have the micro flight. If you have the standard barrel the flats will shoot fine out of your bow. I only found this out by accident as all my arrows vanes were getting screwed up and when I went into the closet I found some old flats. Went to shoot them and my arrow groups got alot bigger. Well I went to the shop and noticed that horton didn't even offer the flats anymore. Made some phone calls and found out that this was why. Check your barrel out and let us know how things turn out for ya.

To me a little longer arrow is better. I shoot a 22" arrow on a Foxfire 2 crossbow. Yeah I know it'sn older bow but it's right on the money at 35 yards inside a 2" circle so Ican't give it up with it shooting that good. I think a little longer arrow flys more true also. Exspecailly witha 150lbs pull. I would think a 17" arrow would be all over the place.

Just MO is all.

I've got some 18" 'ultra light" 330 gr. arrows coming for friends Vixen. They are reported to get about 290-295 fps. They will be the same as my GT LII's except for weight and length. I'll be checking them out for accuracy and helping him sight his scope in, so hope to have some things to share on the subject. I personally don't think that much difference in length will affect much, but the weight might.

I use the standard2216 Horton bolt, complementedby 100gr Spitfires. Awesome combo and REAL accurate!
Does anyone have a problem with that?
my cousin uses same set-up as you.he uses only the 20YD LINE on scope.he gets his buck every year and never shoots over 30 yards.2216/spitfire 100
