Barnett Crossbows
I came into two Barnett crossbows that were priced very reasonably, a Quad 400 and a Revolution. Are they junk, or would they be a good place to start for someone who has never used a crossbow?
I haven't hunted with a crossbow, so I would like to hear opinions on these. Looks like they both use 22" bolts, both are 150lbs. What weight broadhead is recommended for mule deer, elk, and small black bears?
Have been more of a handgun hunter as both shoulders have had surgery, along witha severed right arm bicep tendon that can't be repaired.
All comments, good or bad, would be welcomed and appreciated.

I'm sure you'll do well as long as you are not an arrow junkie like our addict Squirrel. Many guys do ok with them but they do not shoot a hundred or hundreds of arrows per week. Hundred grain heads are good for mulies and black bear and at least a 125 grain for elk along with a heavy shaft as well as being up close and personal like twenty yards. Use a cut on contact non-mechanical broadhead for elk.
Sorry to hear about your injuries and welcome to our family! I hope you have fun here. Don't take the ribbings personally, we don't know any better! LOL!
Hope this helps.

Both Bows will do what you need them to do. DNK"s advice is good. My only cents worth is keep shots within reason and good 100gr Bhead will do. Only 25gr. weight difference, its still same Bhead. On larger game you may want the extra weight for penetration.[:-]

ALFONZ044 I recommend that you go to a shop and shoot every xbow, not just what yer keen on. Then after shooting all of them you will like some and dislike some. Thats yer weeding process. I shoot Excal Phoenix and love it.

RE: Barnett Crossbows
Sometimes its not the xbow itself that makes the biggest differance. A lot of us started out with a Barrnet. With a lot of us who have or have had disability the important part is the cocking mechanism. I would say check that out first if you can't cock it yourself then look at a 10pt accudraw its the reason I have a 10pt instead of a exocet. While there are faster and or higher quality x-bows available those will do fine and their are a lot of people here who will be happy to help; if you find you live in the same area as someone here PM them and get some hands on help. Don't think getting close enough for a decent shot will be a problem. I've been hunting bears out of a blind for several years with a hogleg and 4o-45 yards seems to be about the max shot where I hunt.
Cocking the bowis difficult to say the least, so I ordered a rope cocking device.Do theywork well enough or does a guy need to get the hand crank model that attaches to the stock?
All the input is very much appreciated, thanks!
