Another Crossbow

RE: Another Crossbow
If it was dry fired its probably no problem at all. Check the limbs by running some cloth over them slowly. Any damage to the limbs will show up as glass fibers sticking up. I've dryfired mine once LOL, to no ill affect. Don't like the noise it makes so I won't be doing that again....I hope, LOL! Henry, if you have a few spare bucks try the dacron flemish string, its really quiet. Thats all I've used for years and years. You're going to love shooting the hell out of your Excal!!! Nothing seems to wear out accept the serving but that takes while if you wax the sucker alot. Becarefull of the 747 wings, if they contact anything you'll need dentures or new friends!

Donno where you can get one but it is supposed to be being phased out. I bought a few of them. If you cannot find one just PM me and I will mail one to you. They make your bow so much more quiet and so easy on the limbs.
BTW how do you like your ProElite? I am thinking about a Pro Tech. I think Dan was saying that the venerable Dan Miller does not have a website but apparently he will call you back if you miss him. This is just one man's opinion but I think the dacron flemish string is the single best unrealized accessory a crossbow hunter can have. But then again, who cares? LOL
Have fun Henry, I know you will!

The dacron flemish uses two colours that look like two separate ropes (each rope has obvious strands that are twisted) twisted together. It looks like a Zebra string that Mathews uses or like custom compound strings. The endless looks like a whole bunch of small strands. I guess an anology would be the flemish looks like two ropes of different colours and the endless looks like a bunch of strings bunched together.
Dacron flemish=quiet, easy on limbs, slow, looks cool!
Endless dacon=quiet, easy on limbs, slower
Fastflight=noise, harder on limbs, fast
I think(thats not good) there is a fast flight flemish but don't know anything about it

The Excal website shows three strings, the FFF string,,Excal String,, and Standard string that is listed as being used on pre 2001 crossbows.. do youthink it would be the pre 2001 standard string you think is the best??

Dnk: ya never answered my question on the color. The fff is grey and black, the excel endless loop had green and brown and I had one that looked like fff [flemish] but was grren and black like small ropes. I used it for a dog choker collar, which it wasn't too good at that either. Miller claims the excel endless loop is the way to go, and from many switches and tests I agree.

Dan, the dacron flemish string comes in a few colours. Endless loop strings are always "springier" or more giving. Because they cannot be made to exact lengths the strands give a bit. Sort of like having mulitple bungie cords. One cord will end its travel then the next one will end then the next one etc. Clear as mud? I guess Miller says that because its a compromise between a string that gives nothing at the end of the limb travel and the dacron endless loop that is like a rubber band. I donno if ff flemish exists but I know that I use flemish dacron that looks like your dog choker.
