RE: Red Dot or Scope?
That's one of the things I feared about red dots myself, rack tracker, but since I've been using the red dot, I've learned my fears were unfounded. There's no way to accidently turn on the red dot I've got. It takes some conscious effort to turn that knob to one of the ON positions.
You might accidently forget to turn it OFF and run the battery down that way but, as a matter of pre-hunt routine, you're going to check to make sure the thing lights up before heading to the woods the next time. If you haven't done the smart thing and stocked up with a couple of spare batteries, you might have to make an emergency stop at Wally World before heading to the stand. But that's about the extent of it.
