Of course we brought in Dan Hendricks and Leone Russo as the best subject matter experts in the world as well as gaining the support of Ted Nugent, Keith Warren and the ATA along with many other Outdoor groups and large vendors.
Just friendly advise from a lowly humble good ole boy hunter. I wouldleave teds name out of aconversation trying tobring people in your fold. Did you see that nutball on that stupid show, "surviving Ted" on VH1? He did more harm to hunters than he could have ever helped. I was ashamed of him. I bought that stupid cookbook of his and other things, and I feel like throwing it in the fireplace for putting 'real" hunters in such a bad light.

Also, just another tip for you from the regular hunting crowd. Don't use words like ignorance. It really isolates yourcause, and does you no favors. I know alot of people here reada few articles that love the word ignorance and all. So they reuse it. But it sure doesn't help your cause. I am a staticitican by nature of engineer work, and as any knowledgable engineer knows, statistics are very abused and don't tell half the story.

Just a simple mans opinion.
I'll use the word ignorance again, and you will be surprized at what others I can bring out of this vocabulary. Ted Nugent has probabley won more awards for conservation than any other human. You may read his bio like everyone else at www.tednugent.com,(Being a bean counter you will love it)he is on the Sr Board of directors of the National Rifle Assn...Several Golden Moose Awards, Awarded as a top outdoor writer, Spokes person for Mothers agaist Drunk Driving. Ted is about as patriotic as you can get, so tell your humble buddies about the thousands of Marines he and Toby entertained. And just for the heck of it tell them about the 6 figures he laid on the Katriana victims in Louisiana...I gave him an award myself for that one.He has a wonderful clean cut family, his wife now sponsoring Freedom Angles to help wounded soldiers. VH1 is not the Outdoor Channel, Ted is a Rock and Roll Star "He puts on an act." Sure it clashes with a few stoic anal retentives, Ive had my arguments with some of his stuff, but its an act...The Ted Nugent that deals with the outdoors is the real one, Not the "Nuge." His archery mentor was none other that Fred Bear. Frankly everyone I know pretty well likes him...all main stream good ole boys and girls hunter types...soldiers realy like him and if you havent heard he is running for Governor of Michigan. Considering that I really dont have a problem bringing people into the fold, even though, like the "Nuge" I'm very outspoken. Yea I recon both me and the "Nuge" are crazy, .....Like the Fox.

You should have seen what I came up with for Surviving the Nuge.

If I could figure out how to take the monitor in the bathroom and wipe with it I would. I cant believe weget suckedinto this argument everytime! We as CB users know that the states are slowly turning towards the use of the CB, and the last couple of years its really picking up steam. The flush has begun, try and stand back and dont let the turds hit ya as they pass by!

Well this is refreshing! Finally an anti who isn't a complete jerk! Atleast bigcountry isn't here for a full out attack. I think this man is really just voicing his opinion, albeit wrong. Still the first anti-xbower that I have some respect for. Lets keep him around to beat up when we're in a bad mood ok? Let The Squirrel have at'm first! LOL. Bigcountry did you read the thread I sent you? Did you read what the source said? He said he would rather sit in the woods with a vert bow he couldn't use rather than use a crossbow. How do you feel about this? Hey, I'm not debating! LOL
Yea, been reading around. Like I said guys, I harbor no hard feelings you guys. I never realized you guys debate this same thing alot. First time ever visiting this forum. Still looking over replies. I do realize I can't force my will and wants on you guys. Even my brother thinks I am crazy for taking up longbows. I mean this is the internet. No reason for people to get all mad about a guys opinion.

Myself, I would rather hunt bottom line. That is the dominating factor out of all this. Second, I would like to choose my weapon.

Well, good, you follow that fool. I ain't alone in how I feel. I used to like the guy. Even checked in his hunts. Planned on doing a bow hunt with him. Forget it, he does more harm than good. And any foolish organizaiton that would align themselves with him will regret it in the end.

Man, I hope you don't break your arm patting yourself on the back. Did some checking on you with friends down south. They explained kinda what I figured. Well, you write pretty anyway.

Why does everyone allow themselfs to be sucked into this debate on the forums,, this isshue is not going to be decided on the forums it is going to be decided by each states government... I just want to hunt and if it were not for my state allowing people with a disibility to use a crossbow I would not get to..so praise goes to those states that allow those with a medical reason that prevents them from using a recurve ,, longbow, or compound, to use a crossbow.. I say that anyone that wishes to hunt should be allowed too,, even if they have to use a special equipment to do so.. this is all JMO

I have loved archery since I was a lil young'n....I made a slingshot that would shoot an arrow...pretty slick gizmo , but range was limited but was hell on pop bottles and milk cartons.
Then as years went on , I got my first stick bow....then recurve....then the compounds....I hunted with all of them, and they have a place in my heart.....I still have them too. In fact the stick bow was my dads :an avid true archery hunter who also went up the ladder from stick bow to compounds.
One day he called me on the phone to tell me he got a xbow....I said " what the hell for"!!!!???!!!! Well his shooting arm was hurting for the last couple years ( 85 yrs of age)and felt the xbow was the way to go. Well , I felt kinda lost for words...like geeesh.....you can't pull back a bow for one shot to shoot a deer.....damn. I felt like as though any bow hunter could pull back a vertical bow, if not , reduce the draw weight, but I didn't tell him that.
So he tells me how much he paid for this xbow....then I really felt bad for him....kinda expensive.....and for what....a damn xbow. I felt anyone using a xbow was using one due to a health or a dissability....or a reason on that order. I never felt threatened by anyone using a xbow.... or some one would shoot my deer.....hell no....I was as good as I could be with my compounds ( I pound chest like Tarzan here).
On one of my recent visits with him , he brought out his xbow to show me what he bought.....geeeesh , heavy as hell, felt clumbsy.....looked nice and well made.....but sorry , NOT FOR ME.
He said , " one of these days this will be yours.....so let me show you how to crank it and shoot it".....I was reluctant.....nope I would not shoot it.
I was very hurt my dad bought this xbow.....why I kept asking myself did he do something stupid as this.
Well , I started reading about the xbow that he bought....the mechanics of it etc......interesting.....very interesting indeed. Then I started reading about ALL xbows....from mid evil to present....then started reading about different xbow mfg.......damn interesting as could be.
Wellll all this reading got me intersted enough to go out and buy one MYSELF...........I love it !!!!!!! I sure do.....never thought I'd be saying this statement.....man , these are fun to shoot and deadly....unreal.
This opening day of archery , I'll be tote'n this bugger with me in the great outdoors.....another way to hunt with a new tool.....and I'll be proud of it.....again " I pound my chest like Tarzan".

Yes I cannot agree more. but lobbying against the crossbow is not allowing a choice of weapons is it? Ok would you be a happy young man if you were given a week before everyone as long as you used a stick bow? (acutally I would be 100% happy with that) And a week before stick bow users the spear hunters go out? COME ON, LETS MAKE A DEAL!!!

Reminder to everyone to play nice. Particularly the non-xbow users.

You don't have to likecrossbows.. but if you start bashing them here.. I'll start deleting. This is their forum.

Thank you and have a nice day!
