Default question about my bow

ok, i know i've been askin alot of questions about my bow but i have NO experince with buying/setting up bows. i want to know if the resistance of my draw will ever let up. it's reallllllllyyy hard to draw it back and it's only 150! i'm only 12 and i can lift 150 but that's a 150 on steriods! i'm hoping that it's just because it's never been shot and the strings and limbs are just stiff because of the new/ no shot thing. will this ever improve? thanks guys!

it will not get much softer.it is 150 lbs. and will be that pretty much all the life of the bow.it takes some getting use to.once you draw and shoot it for a while it will get easer to do. not that it weaken any, just easer for you to draw.
Pratice , pratice , pratice , is what it takes.thats the fun of shooting,to be able to do it the exact same way each and every time.you really don't want it to weaken any.like you say about lifting 150 lbs. now, when you started it took a nack to do that.it's just getting the nack of drawing.

good luck and hope it gets better for ya.

Hopefully it never changes. Use a rope cocker.

It will never change! But if it is hard, get a cocking aid. There is alot of power in those limbs and they can not be dry fired at all. Meaning if you get your bow back most of the way and it slips it could be a unforgivable mistake! Also if you are having trouble pulling back you may be pulling it back offset. What i mean by this is that if as you pull back, your string goes to one side or the other and not staying in the center when you shoot it will make your arrow go left or right depending on the way it was offset. What I have done and most of the guys I know do is mark your string. Your string should be black with a gold serving on it. Take a black permanent marker with a sharp point and mark your serving just on the outside edge of the rails. They dont have to go all the way around the serving just on the top. Then as you pull your bow back watch the marker to keep it in center/ black marks on the outside. You may not think it can go offset but you can make it go off by 1/2" with out even trying much. This is anouther reason you should get the aid because if you are having a hard time you may be pulling it back offset which couldhinder your accuracy and your confidence in your bow/skills.

I agree Hotburn. I serve the string with some dental floss on either side of the rail to indicate center. This makes the serving fit tight enough in the hooks of the rope cocker to not allow an offset string.

you need to pull back straight and even. get a cocking device if you have to. i try to keep both hands against the rail as a guid when cocking my bow so string is even.

hey thanks guys, i hadnt been out cocking it all the way last night and it was really hard to start. i got out and shot about 50 into my target which works great and i only had one go in to the fletchings when i hit it on the edge. i was wondering why i could have 3 perfect bullseyes and then start to go everywhere. i'm going to mark the strings like you say to. i'm also thinking about getting a regular scope for it seings how i dont like the 3 dot red scope very much. i think 25 yards is about the right place to site it in at right? i'm not going to be shootin much further. thanks for the help guys! oh and i can pull it up easy now

I'm glad we could all help. Also you seem pretty interested in hunting and having fun at it so far. Maybe you have mentioned it in other post but do you have help from someone in your family helping you or are you on your own in this learning experiance?

my dad has been hunting since he was fourteen and my uncles and my grandma and grandma grew up in west virginia way back when and they hunted for what they ate. so my family is a hunting family. but only with guns. i really wanted to do this by myself so that i can really excell in this type of hunting. my grandma has an old PSE tht everyone takes out but noone has killed anything with it. i'm really serious about hunting with a crossbow and i want to be a pro crossbow hunter when i'm older. but who doesnt want to be a pro hunter. i'm just glad to go out in the woods and be part of nature. the best part of being part of nature is when it's in your bellythanks guys!
