Default Request from Soldiers in Iraq

I rec'd this request from LT Russel. Let's see what we can do to show our support for these guys.
(he said new or used DVD's, it didn't matter)

I am currently deployed with the Idaho National Guard in Iraq. I am
trying to establish a hunting DVD library for the soldiers here. We are
all a bunch of rednecks and wish we could be hunting, but we have
already missed one season and we will miss the one this year. If we had
DVDs that we could watch it might help. I know that I might be asking
alot but I am looking for donations of videos for my deployed
soldiers. This would mean alot to them to pass some of the time that we
have here.

We are also going to be having an Elk, Turkey, Goose and Duck calling
contest. I am looking for some calls to be dontated or even prizes for
the contestants. I would really appreciate any help that you would be
willing to give us here in IRAQ. We are willing to take pictures of our
Elk and duck Calling contests for your magazines or catalogs or website.

Default RE: Request from Soldiers in Iraq

I sent another email to LT Russell asking him about vhs tapes and the mailing address.

I don't want to sound to needy and don't want people to have to spend a lot
of money but if we had another VHS machine we could sign it out and let
soldiers that it back to their rooms and watch movies. The only VHS we have
right now is at a Company Headquarters but I still have people that come and
watch the videos we have already received. Thanks for your support.
As for mailing yes it does go to the APO account. If you send it air it gets
here in about 10 days snail mail takes about 30.
Thanks again.

So, go ahead and send VHS tapes. I've got a used VHS player I'll send to them. HNI will be sending some goodies too.

Thanks for the interest everybody.. You guys/gals are the best!

I have been in charge of sending traditional archery supplies through the Michigan Longbow Association and my friend Konk sent me an email this morning to look at this thread. Last weekend I was given a number of dvd's to send to our troops from Gary Olsen and Mike Misch who have put out several hunting dvd's. Bowhunting for Alaska Moose and Bowhunting for Alaska Caribou will both be sent over in a few days. I am also sending the same to Camp Cuervo Archery Club in Baghdad and to the new club in Mosul we have begun to send equipment to. To see more about these dvd's check out their site at www.bowhuntingvideos.net and check out our site at www.michiganlongbow.org and check out what we have been doing in Iraq with the Camp Cuervo Archery Club. I hope you enjoy these dvd's as there are 4.5 hours of longbow adventures on each of these.

AmanitaVerna, Chessbum, ahunter55,
I just wanted to let you know what your doing does not go unnoticed, being deployed numerous times and now more often then before, little things that we take for granted when were stateside becomes a serious loss when were deployed. Thanks for all the support you have given us service members.
