Anything under 30 yards. I have a nephew that shoots 26 lbs. He has killed 3 deer at 17 yards, all went right through. Arthur hit it on the money, 400 grain arrows, with Magnus Stingers. This ain't no place for speed freaks.

I agree the the 400 grain arrow and a CUC head, stingers are great but so are most of the other CUC broadheads as well. Each and everyear women and kids kill bull elk with 40 to 45 pound bows with this set up. They also have to limit themselfs to only shooting 25 yards or under.

No dought it can be done. What happens at 30-35 yards and you hit a shoulder? I would prefer more behind my arrow than that. Again quality practice is one of the most important aspects of archery hunting.

It's been shown that 40#s is enough to kill big game. If you can shoot more do so, but if you can't follow the others' advice and use a good cut on contact head with a meaty arrow behind it.
