RE: Do deer smell it when you.........
James Vee,
If they do, I've never seen them react adversely. Scent reactions, by deer, vary from one area to another.
A bowhunting buddy of mine found another bowhunter in his area, last year. The guy was afraid of the dark, as he always left his stand during prime time (dusk), which did nothing but mess up his hunting by spooking the deer. Soooo, after this other hunter would leave, my bowhunting buddy would go to his tree and urinate around it. His hopes were that it would spook or push the deer to his area and away from this other guy. (this guy didn't have permission to be there and the landowner wouldn't do anything about it).
As luck would have it, the "other hunter" left the area the following week.
2 weeks later my bowhunting buddy sees this guy in Wal-Mart's sporting goods. The guy says he recogized him from the woods that they hunted together, because he'd use his binoculars to see his face as he checked out the rest of the area. (my bowhunting buddy is thinking, "So what!" The guy asks if he was having any luck, to which he replies, "Nope." Then this guy continues to tell about this 12 point buck the walked up to his tree and started sniffing around it. That's when he shot it through the spine and it dropped right there. He goes on telling how he had to get help to drag it out, etc., etc.
Imagine that! My bowhunting buddy was "steaming". The point here is, that bucks will check out ANY scent posting, during the rut.
Good hunting, Bowhunter57

I would think they would, but wow - sometimes I think it should knock them out. Now there is a thought, stun them while you shoot<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
