Default Met Jay Gregory Saturday Night...info...!

Hey, the Mississippi Bowhunters had there annual banquet Saturday night with guest speaker Jay Gregory. It was great and he was very good. Some hightlights I thought some of you may find interesting:

1. Do you wear carbon suits? "No, IMO it's a marketing scheme"
2. Really pushes mechanicals and believes in them
3. Best place to shoot P&Y? "Nebraska" That one shocked me, he went on to say Iowa and Kansas are also great but drawing can take years. In his opinion, Illinois is "shot out"
4. Hunts everyday of the season, at one point 40 someodd days straight!! That's rough!!

It was great presentation and we were lucky to have him.

Yeah the part about carbon suits doesn't surprise me. I can't recall ever being winded and I don't have a carbon suit. There are plenty of other things that you can do for scent control that are a lot less expensive.

That's one thing about Nebraska, not all of the state is great, but a lot of it(southern and Eastern sides) are just as good if not better than any of the Iowa, Illinios, Kansas, Ohio type states., but without the big name. Anybody heard of Del Austin??

I agree with him on the carbon suits, but maybe he ought to check THIS out and get back to you on his point about Illinois.

BagginBigguns, keep in mind it's all relative. Personally, I believe you can still kill some great bucks in Illinois, but I don't see how it can continually replentish itself year after year.

What was his reasoning behind his stance? Did he go into detail? Just seems like an odd position to take considering the magnum bucks that are coming from that state. At least to my knowledge, Illinois was one of North America's best-kept secrets until the late 90's. Can an entire state be hunted-out in less than 10 years?

Jay seems like a great guy and we all know he is certainly an awesome bowhunter. In fact, he may actually have more B&C class bowkills than anybody else. I would like a chance to meet and chat with him somday. Thanks for sharing.

I know the brochure advertising that he was coming to the banquet said he has killed 7 B&C bucks. Not sure if that is official net score or not, but either way that very impressive, especially considering he is still fairly young.
