Couldn't beleive this Unethical shot from a Pro.
The other day I was watching the Primos "Big Game Out West" which I bought last fall, where Brad Farris is Archery Hunting for Antelope. He's in a blind sitting by a water-hole when a group of antelope come up and drink. Then a shooter buck takes a drink i'm guessing roughly 35-40 yards away. The buck is faced directly at him, at ground level, with it's head down drinking, and Brad takes the shot!!! The arrow goes in the back of his neck, and obviously the shot didn't hit any vitals. They back off and the next day they recover the buck.
I couldn't beleive when I saw him take the shot. I had to rewind it and watch it a few times. I don't understand why a "professional" would take a bad shot on a buck that is being filmed on a video, when chances are, if he waits a little more the buck is going to turn. I'm sure some of you out there have this video in your collection. Take it out and watch it. Unbeleivable, and they calls themselves Pro's! There's a big difference in taking and making a bad shot. I last thing we need is poor examples(like that) out there for our young and new hunters.
Am I wrong to think this way or does anybody agree?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Hunting shows really pressure the hunter to score and as a result of deadlines and pressures to score they take poor shots which reflect poorly on th hunting community as a whole. I'm sure any anti watching was thinking "Wow, and this guy is a professional. Just imagine what slob hunters are like."[:@][:'(]
Hunting shows IMO do more harm then good for the hunters plight.

Just guessing but I bet an anti-hunter could care less if it was a perfect shot or a bad shot and probably wouldn't know the difference.
But yeah I agree, I've seen alot more "bad" shots taken lately....and a lot more lines like "man, I had to shoot. He was really big!"

I didn't see it but in Brad's defense I will say he doesn't make a habbit out of it. No one here is beyond doing something in the heat of the moement they wish they could take back. If I saw Brad making a habit out of it I would blast him but I think it was more like an isolated mistake. Should it have happen? No. Is it a part of hunting? Yes it is. It doesn't aint the industry in a favorable light but then again the show is called the Truth about hunting. Bad shots are sometimes the truth. That doesn't make it acceptable but then again I am sure Brad wihes he could have it all to do over again.

Yeah, I would at least want them to acknowledge that it was not a good shot, even if they got a good result. I was watching one, god 2 months ago maybe (It was the last one I watched) and the guy shot a deer, over bait and did a neck shot. The deer dropped like a rock. Than he claimed that it was good shot placement. Good, well good in that he dropped the buck in its tracks. But I think that was a lot more of a "lucky" shot than a good one.

Well this neck shot with a bow they watched the deer run off, tracked for awhile came back some time later and supposedly shot the deer again. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't the same deer.
This is how the show is described on the OLN website.
It's truly a Texas style show with a little less talk and a lot more action. The gambling begins with Mike DiSario on a cacti bit'n whitetail stalk followed by a dead eye buck shot from Brad Adams at 450 yards. Then, it's another showdown at the Alamo with Mike DiSario and his gang of renegades as they hold down the fort from incoming geese.

Did you happen to catch the neck shot on a bedded buck on Outdoor Expeditions with Mike DiSario?

Is this video from a few years ago? I remember an identical situation to the one you described, but for some reason I'm thinking it was Michael Wadell that took the shot. I can't say for sure. I watch so many hunting videos that I lose track. Either way, my first thought was the same as your's. I couldn't believe he took the shot.
I have to disagree with Adams, though. I think these shows (in general) are great for hunting. People that will watch them (again, in general) are outdoors types that may be swayed into trying it out as a result of the excitement they see on the screen. Hunting shows are mostly good. You just have to take the bad with the good. There will always be both.

My main beef with hunting videos is that they are mostly voyarism. I enjoy a good video and like seeing big bucks that I have little chance of seeing in real life where I hunt. But they have just become voyaristic in nature and there is no real educational content. You get the typical "get out during the rut, keep the wind in your face, wear our camo, use our product" but few substitive facts and strategies. Rarely do the situations relate to most people's hunting experiences. How many of you are looking across an alfalfa field on the Milk River full of 20 shooter bucks? How many hunt population controlled ranches? Show me some guys hunting public land and have them show me maps and arial shots and explain why they chose the spot they chose and how they planned their approach. A lot of fluff and big racks but little substance.
