I am trying to decide which to buy. I will be shooting a 30 inch draw at 70lbs. For hunting and 3D. What should i buy?

Minn,

I am in the same boat as you are. I have been shooting Mathews for over 5 years and really like their bows. Their 2002 bows will be debuted in about a month, so if you can hold off, it might be worth it. I am going to wait until they unveil the 2002 line before I buy. Of the bows you listed, the Q2XL will be the slowest but probably the most accurate. The Q2 will be the fastest, a good mix of accuracy and speed. The SQ2 will fall between the other 2 in speed, should handle like a dream in the treestand, but will lack a little in the accuracy department due to it's short axle to axle length.

I have also been considering the new Patriot from BowTech. It is similar to the Q2 but a little faster in IBO speeds.

Your decision should be based on what you will be using the bow for and whether you will be shooting with a release or not. The Q2 and SQ2 will definitely need to be shot with release. Just my 2 cents.

To look at the BowTech patriot here is the site:

Depends on what your looking for,I shoot the
Q2 and love it. Shoot 3-49 ACC'S on 75lb. draw weight, 29" draw and get 296 FPS.

I have the Z Max and love it. I will soon be ordering the Mathews Safari for big game. It is a 70 to 100 # draw lbs in 10lb increments at 65% let off. It looks just like the Q2XL, but made of harder grade of Aluminum.

God, Family and hunting, got to get your priorities strait!

Speed rating on the Q2 and Q2XL are the same. I saw a bow report in some bowhunting mag and the Q2XL actully was just a tad faster with heavier arrows. I have a Q2 and depending on what comes out this year I am planning on a Q2XL if I can find a grip that I like. Thats the one thing that I do not like about Mathews is the grip. If I cant find a grip then I will probly get a new hoyt.
