Default Problem with feathers...

I use an Arizona ez fletch to fletch my arrows and this past week tried to fletch some with feathers. About 1 in 3 have the same problem: the rear of the feather(nock side)must slide out while compressing the clamp, because it's curved at an angle (the feathers are RW, so they curve to the left, if looking from the rear). Anyway, they look bad. I think they do it because the barbs of the feathers are so short, they don't hold the feather stem in the clamp, and the natural curve of the feather pulls it out. How do I fix it? Thanks.

Maybe try something other than an EZ Fletch? I've used a regular fletching jig, and not had any trouble w/feathers.

My father-in-law uses an AZ EZ Fletch...but only on vanes.

Good luck!!!

(the feathers are RW, so they curve to the left, if looking from the rear).
If looking from the rear of the arrow they should curve to the right. Are you sure you got right wing feathers. The AZ ezfletch is right wing only.

I have use it before with feathers and they went on just fine. Insert the feather a little foward int he clamp and slide rearward till it stops. Doing this will get the feather a little tighter in the slots.

I have found that jig to be difficult.

feathers in general are hard to fletch, and plus they are quite noisy when in flight but they shoot well.

I fixed it by dumping mine...

I am also not a fan of the EZ Fletch. I take a Bitzenburger at twice the price over the EZ wrecker.
