Wool hunting clothes
I've been thinking about buying wool hunting clothes for the upcoming fall and winter bow hunting season. Can anyone share their experience (plus/minus) with wool hunting clothes. I'm a confessed camo junky so I'm alway looking but I wouldn't want to spend the big bucks for wool if it doesn't really do the job.
Thanks

I use Technowool by Woolrich. Best thing out there---IMO. Naturally water repellant, and the increased strength of the "enriched" fibers in the product allows not only for better air circulation but also for a much lighter garment.
The added benefit is almost no color fading. Think back 50 years to the days of tarton wool coats worn by everyone who hunted. Find your Dad's or Grandpa's and guess what---the coat looks like it was just pulled off the shelf---no color fade.
Wool is a BIG plus in my book---but I also hunt in the Northeast, where the weather requires a versatile cold weather fabric.

I like wool products next to the skin, but then overlayed with quilted flannel shirts. The wool helps wicking the moisture off the skin and the poly/flannel shirts keep the warm air trapped.

I can't tolerate having wool next to my skin, it's too itchy. I start my layers with polypropelene. If I could afford the wool camo I'd already own it. I do wear wool plaids ice fishing, rifle hunting and working outdoors in the snow and frozen rain and think it's terrific. I have also had very good luck machine washing it on the gentle cycle with scent eliminator soaps and hanging it up to dry, without it shrinking.
