The worst thing you can do with a recurve is over bow yourself. It will be no fun and you will get frustrated if you try to pull to many pounds. Don

I made the switch last year. I still hunt with the compound though. I don't think i was ready to hunt with the recurve yet. This year might be the year I hunt with it. Getting beter with all the time I love it. I think the best thing to do is go with a lower pound 45 to 50lb bow . When you get good with that then go to the higher pound recurves. It's fun,fun,fun!!!!!!

The traditional strengthens your muscles so you can hold a compound rock stready. The compound cleans up your form and makes your traditional shooting better. You'll find you have a totally different mindset with traditional than you do with the compound
Luckily , I was given a recurve by my father at the same time I got a new compound for xmas. I have shot both now and seem to like the challenge of the recurve. I hadn't shot a bow since I was a kid and had the compound figured out in a half day. Recurve , different story.
