RE: Do you process your own deer?
I do about 1/2 of my deer .
I do all of the first ,if I have time and then take 1 to the bucher so it looks right when I give meat away to the needy and freinds.

Usually take a couple deer every year. Process all of the first one and most of the second one. I take about 40 pounds of meat in for summer sausage. I do the steaks, roasts, burger, and jerky...he does the sausage.

I'd rather not even mess with it anymore. It's worth paying the butcher the $60 to do it for me. Excellent cuts, and wraped and packed for me, can't beat that! I'll generally only keep a deer or two for myself and give the rest to anyone who wants it. There is ALWAYS someone that seems to be looking for venison.

I've always processed my own deer. It only takes a couple of hours and I find it kind of enjoyable. My father bought an industrial grade meat saw/grinder 2 years ago and it's made meat processing very easy.

I drive an hour to butcher. I would do it myself, but it would never turn out to be a fraction as good as these people I take it to. The sausage and the jerky they make is incredible, I can't express in words how awesome it is.

I do all of my butchering myself. I agree with Shootem up870 you don't get your meat back! I also think you don't get all of your meat back either! I took deer to the butcher years ago and there is no way I got as much meat back from them compared to doing my own butchering!! Besides I enjoy butching all of my own!!
