I am an Illinois bowman, and have been for this my ninth straight year.
I hunt til the very last day. Have never taken anything but does during late season, but have seen most seasons largest deer during december. This holds especially true after a snow.

Its snowing right now

After I filled my bow tag here at home I was able to get over
to Illinois and hunt a few days before your 1st shotgun season.
I had several opportunities at some nice 2 1/2 year olds, but
they weren't what I was looking for.

I'll be heading back over after your 2nd shotgun season finishes
on Sunday. I'm afraid things are gonna be drastically different
than when I first came over a couple of weeks ago. Hope
the deer don't take too long to calm down and start hitting
the food sources before last-light.

Good Luck to you & Welcome to the board

I've got a friend that has some land and he said that I could hunt it after 2nd shotgun. Don't know how good it will be.

I always do some hunting after shotgun season. Like others have said it's not the same as before gun season but you can still connect on a deer. Last year I saw 11 deer one afternoon. 3 of which were P&Y bucks. All the deer were feeding in a wheat field. It takes them a little while to calm down after gun season but if you can figure out where they're feeding you'll see some deer. And you can't beat hunting in the snow.
