Default Mathews Q2 vs Hoyt Cybertec

Currently own an MQ1. Ready to upgrade. Talked with local Hoyt dealer who said the Cybertec would be most similiar to a Q2. He said the Cybertec would be considerably quicker than my MQ1. I am more interested in stability than short bow so am looking at longer bow.

Currently shooting 247fps with OD, 57lbs 29" draw length, Gold tips/100grain.

How does the Cybertec compare to the Q2. Why would you recommend one over the other based upon testing or experience?

Price seems to be similar. Thanks.

I just got done making a very similar decision! I shot the Q2 and a Cybertec one after the other. The Q2 had a bit less recoil than the cybertec but not by much, the cybertec is lighter, I liked the cybertecs grip and overall feel better. The cybertec was faster. I shot the Q2 at 29"draw, set at 62#, and a arrow that weighed 345g at 265fps. I didnt shoot the cybertec thru the chrono, but did shoot a Havoctec thru and the cyber is a few fps faster than a havoctec, anyhow...the havoctec at 29", 59#, same arrow as used with Q2 shot at 273fps. Bottom line...I ordered the Cybertec, for me it was the nicer bow overall!

Bloodtrail1:
Thanks. I read your email on the Q2 vs Hypertec. So the Hypertec was set 3 lbs lighter that the Q2 and was faster.

Are there additional SVL you can add to reduce additional recoil to the Hoyt. Can I assume the recoil was insufficent for your decision? I really like my Mathews, but will switch if there is better technology. Weren't you comparing a 2002 Hoyt versus a 2001 Mathews?

In the real world a small difference in speed shouldn't be a factor. But then again there are some speed freaks out there. Personally I would just shoot each bow as much as you can and see which one feels more natural to your shooting style. That is the best suggestion that I can give without saying get a Mathews.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

dhacker: Yes the Havoctec was set 3# lighter on the draw weight than the Q2 and was faster as I said. And the IBO speed on a Cybertec I beleive is 4-5fps faster than a Havoctec. The SLIGHT recoil diff. between the Cybertec and Q2 was minimal. The Q2 was a tad better on that. But for me the overall feel was just better with the Hoyt. I used to own a MQ-1 and I really cant say bad about it, but the new 2002 Hoyts feel/shoot nicer to me than the 2001 Mathews. I also own a Parker 31, which is my #1 bow! That is why I sold my MQ-1! If your looking for a short axle bow, try a Parker Ultra-lite 31!! But...try to shoot a Q2 and a Hoyt Cybertec and see which works best for you!

Not bad. I expected it to be in the upper 600. My local shop wants $600 for the havoctec. I dont know which to get. The cybertec looks and feels so well balanced. I just dont know if the shorter brace height will affect my shot though.

Thats why I decided to go with the cybertec v. havoctec, I liked the havoctec, but once I shot the cybertec I liked it better. It has less recoil and is better balanced in my hand as compared to havoctec. I never gave the brace height diff. a thought, as I really dont think it will be a problem. Cant wait to get the bow! Probably wont be in until next week sometime??
