RE: My Texas Bow Buck!!!!
Yea, I had been seen this buck one time before season opened, so I knew he was
in the area. I put alot of time in the stand, then finally one night just before dark
he came in. I slowly pulled the bow back and went to put the sights on him, when I
did this I hit my bow against the tree and off the buck went. Man I was pissed!! I figured
that would be the last time I saw him this season. But I didn't give up, finally after sitting
countless hours more, and passing on several smaller bucks, he came back. It was raining
that night and I was not sure I was going to hunt at all, but dad talked me into it. The rain
was off and on, and the second time it stopped, out he came. I had to shoot a little farther
then I wanted too (38 yards), but I had practiced alot at 40 yards and knew if I had no choice
that I could make the shot. Pulled back and placed a little high double lung shot, he ran about 30 to 40 yards and dropped. After it was over I looked at my dad, and he was just shaking. I think he was more nervous than I was.
