I can see both sides of the discussion here. It definitely would be nice to see bigger bucks around MI. It would take an act of the DNR to make everyone be on the same page for any QDM action. The hunters out of there, I assume, shoot anything brown because of not seeing the amount of deer that they used to. The same way that many hunters won't harvest a doe until later in the season and only after they don't see any bucks, IMO.
What I believe we need to do is to help the DNR by sending them the information on how many does/bucks we see in your hunting area, or have someone coordinate all of the information sent from hunters around the state. That way we prove the history of said numbers in future years. Until we sit down and actually compile some proof we have nothing to call them on. Thanks.

Yes, this is my first post. I have been lurking for over a year just taking in all of the information that is on this forum. It sure is good stuff! Thanks again.

Welcome to the boards SS75.
Good point you made.
Maybe they will ask Gary Alt to come in and help address the deer situation.

Welcome aboard! I disagree with this statement though. Even in areas with high deer numbers, most gun hunters shoot the first deer they can. They just want to put something down. I think what gets so many of the little bucks killed is that they are the easiest things to shoot during the 3 stages of the rut. They have been run off by the other bucks and are just out looking for a friend or a rare opportunity to breed a doe. This makes them more susceptable to come in to calls, scents and rattling in my experience. It seems like sometimes all we see are little bucks running around!
