First Bow Buck
Connected on my first bow buck this morning at 8:29 am. Haven't found it yet because i hit it alittle ways back and gonna give it some time to die. The awesome thing is this will be my 4rth deer and i'm only seventeen. Two deer with gun and hopefully two with bow. I'm sittin in anticipation to go out and look for him and find him hunched up.

Good job
I see three real positives here. First, we need young people to preserve our tradition, and you're doing it. Second, you know where you hit him - lots of experienced guys can't even tell you where/what they hit. Finally, you're staying disciplined with recovery. A huge pitfall after making a questionable shot is the potential to push him off his deathbed.
I'd give him at least 5 hours, more or less depending on the temperature, and you should be able to follow the blood to your deer. If it's cold, the blood loss and accellerated heart rate usually leads to a quicker death after a gutshot.
Were ya nervous?

After two hours of looking around we gave up and came in to get something to eat. Nope i wasn't very nervous, it happened to quick, we were getting ready to leave and the guy and i were planning what time we were going to come back out to the blind when this deer suddenly appeared like a ghost. Weird isn't it how they just appear out of know where. It was raining and we only found about 4 spots of blood. Welp i'm heading back out to start griding the area. Wish Me Luck!!!

Welp Fellas I wish i could say i am coming home with a deer but i can't. After reviewing the video i shot it back further than what i though[X(] Right in the flank. Anybody have any thoughts on why i would have shot so far left? i mean i wasn't even nervous because the buck appeared for a shot so quick i mean i look up and there he was broadside. I didn't rush i focused right behind the shoulder took my deep breathe resighted then let er fly.

Sorry to hear about the lose of your first buck but at least you took a shot at it and connected, granted it wasn't a fatal shot but i'm sure you have learned from the experience. As for answering your question on shooting left. Did you zero in your sets? Did you shoot with the quiver on your bow? If you were praticing without it on and shot at the deer with it still on, it might have caused you to shoot little to the left due to not being used to the extra weight. It might even be possible you were holding the bow too tight or too loose as well. I'm not expert on bowhunting nor have I gotten my first buck yet but this is what i've learned from on here and praticing shooting.

Bionicrooster do you think it will die.. i only got about 3 inches of penitration due to hitting a bone dont you think it aught to shatter that bone? I do. I dont think the shot was very fatal and i really wish i knew how to get the video on the internet. Can someone post the arteries and such so i can see if it was close to any fatal hits. Thanks
