Default According to Jim...

Anybody see According to Jim tonight? I hope I'm not being overly anal. I normally love this show but I didn't like the way they dipicted hunting, the "nothing to worry about" attitude about being shot with a crossbow, and the minimalation of the wounds inflicted by a shot with a crossbow. Again, I hope I'm not being to overly touchy about this but I really wish they would have come on at the end of the show and explained that what was depicted on the show was in jest, that crossbows are efficient weapons that require skill and caution, and that the wounds inflicted by these weapons are nothing to scoff at.

If you didn't see the show, Jim and his buddy go hunting turkeys with crossbows...they are obviously inexperienced (unsafe)...anyway, Jim gets shot in the butt by a turkey(crossbow)...they continue (Jim with a limp) on, and Jim and his buddy go back hunting.....on the way home they hit the turkey with the truck (funny).

I really like this show but not this episode, and maybe I'm being too sesative but I didn't like explaining to my kids how bogus this was....and what I like even less, is that there are people out there that won't get this explained to them. I think that hurts us, our thing(bowhunting), and possibly others. The least ABC could have done was explain it.

Go ahead and tell me I'm over reacting...

I hear ya voz, alot of shows, comedys in general portray hunting a joke, mostly not knowing what there doing and so forth.
Now something that really bothers me alot on T.V is the fact that know one knows where Canada is.The kids and I were watching the Simpsons the other day and the teacher says to all the kids in the class who our next door neighbour is up north, well of course none of the kids could answer this question and the teacher says Canada-------Bart says "where the hell is canada"Now im not sure about you but this really gets to me as well.Being one of the largest countries in the world"geographically"

I know we all have to be vigilant to protect our rights and image in the face of the public, but come on guys, its a sitcom. Should they present dislclaimers after each bugs bunny episode saying that plugging your finger in a barrel, doesn't make it explode in elmer's face? Or shooting a duck with a shotgun doesn't just make its bill spin around backwards?

I watched it and laughed my butt off [8D]

its a comedy show, they ALWAYS make fun of something, its a joke.

There are times to get defensive at an attack on hunting, this isn't one of em.

It's hollywood, what do you want? You think they should actually research this kind of stuff, why bother. It's a comedy any way, realism wouldn't have been too funny. I didn't watch it, I saw the start of it so I know the premise. I figured someone would comment on it hear.

I watched the show on Alexander the Great on discovery instead. It was pretty interesting.

Hunting is a serious issue ,and kid's are very influential whether it's a sitcom or not ,when you see your kid in the bush trying to play trick's or copy what they seen on TV because they thought what they seen was funny ,then tell me that we shouldn't take this issue serious . Sitcom or not when it come's to careless use of a firearm or crossbow or whatever weapon it might be it SHOULD be taken serious .
