I JUST PICK UP THE GREAT BIG CAN AND WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE USED IT AND WHAT TIME OF DAY DID THEY USE IT ,FIRST LIGHT OR AT NIGHT ALSO BOUGHT THE MOCK SCRAPE DRIPPER, FOUND A BIG BUCKS CORE AND WANT TO BUT IT ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF IT!!! ANY HELP ON THIS WOULD BE MUCH HELPFULL...

I have only used the can a little and found out it stops deer in there tracks. I stopped 2 does last year. I spoke to Mike Beatty a few weeks ago ( he and I work for the same company) he shot that world record with useing a can. He said he would hit it though out the day every 20 or 30 min. Hard to say if that's the way to do it. It worked for him but so did a LOT of luck. During the peek chasing phase bucks are moveing in search of hot does all day, and they'll come in if they happen to be in a ear shot and hear it. Just watch the wind sometimes older bucks will circle around you looking for the source. Good luck

Good timing! I used the can tonight. It was unbelievable! I got to the stand really late, only 45 minutes of legal shooting left. About fifteen minutes after getting to the stand I turned the can over 2 times. About 2 minutes later there was a buck standing on the trail that I used on my way into the woods. I also could hear some twigs snapping from the other direction. As I turned to get in position in case the buck kept walking down the trail a deer bolted from the other direction (swampy bedding area). The can must have brought them both in. The buck ended up going back to the field, apparently since he didn't find any deer. About ten minutes later I turned the can over one more time and he came running back into the woods. This time he was directly downwind from me. He stopped and stood there for about fifteen or twenty seconds and then took off. I'm sure he winded me.

I've never had a deer react to a call like that before. Worth the ten bucks in my mind.

I have the great big can too and it has turned me into a believer. For starters, without it I do not honestly believe I would has shot my buck this year. (see the "It isn't a Monster but...." thread on this forum) The week before I had an 8 pointer sneak up on me while I was using the can. It literally got right under my treestand before I heard a branch snap and it picked me off. On both occasions I had been using the can sporadically...every 20 to 30 minutes or so. With the former I let out to calls after I spotted the deer and he came right in.

As for that Ultimate Scrape Dripper....I am not too fond of it. I never had much success with it. Maybe one of those battery powered models might be more trustworthy....though probably illegal in many states.

thanks you guys on the info you just never know what works,ill try anything to see this deer again, ill be out sat let you guys know how it works were i hunt their no pressure, and me putting another stand in this funnel area with all these rubs in a core area somthings got to happen i hope!!!

One negative vote. After reading a thread just like this one, in this forum 2 years ago, I went out and bought me a Primos can. I used it for two years with absolutely no response whatsoever -- even when deer were in sight and in easy hearing distance. I pulled in multiple deer each year using my regular grunt and bleat calls. It sounded good to me, but the deer didn't care for it in my areas.

It is unfortunate that so many hunters have jumped on that bandwagon. They used to be a great "secret" weapon! All kidding aside the can style calls can indeed truly make the difference. However, with most hunters using them these days you are begining to see educated deer that are starting to act a little spooky and WILL circle downwind before responding. I remember the first time I ever used a can call. It arrived with the DeerHunting Ecyclopedia by Lenord Lee Rue III in 1994, it was the "can" as we know it but wrapped in camo (Treebark) tape and had a small lid. Anyway, the first hunt I ever used it I had an awesome tall tined magnum buck respond! The buck came charging in looking for the "doe" he knew was there. For several minutes he wandered back and forth within 25 yards and I was never able to get the shot off. From that point on I became a HUGE fan of this call. The only thing that made it frustrating was that everybody I showed my "secret" call to just laughed at the idea of using this "toy" on a deer? Just ONE year later I used this call to tag my first true "trophy" buck! It was mid December and the frigid sub zero temps had kept most hunters out of the woods for weeks. About an hour before dark I had a group of 6 antlerless deer enter the picked cornfield and begin to paw under the snow for their evening feed. With nothing to loose but legal shooting light I decided to call to them. I tipped the "can" a couple of times and thought.... "man, that sounds great in this quiet cold air"! I had no sooner put the can back in my pocket when I looked to my right and there was a dandy 150 class P&Y buck standing at 30 yards staring intently at the doe group! He commited to entering the field to join them and as he slightly quartered at 25 yards I made a perfect hit! Needless to say...... I've been a believer ever since! Mix it with the best sounding grunt call in the industry, the HS True Talker, and you have the best calling combo possible. Good luck this fall.

I used the regular size Can last season with some good results. There were a couple days where it didn't produce results. But overall I was happy with the results. On one particular evening I remember tipping the can twice and within 15min I had 3 different bucks come into the vacinity to check things out.

Had a doe feeding in a field in frot of me at about 90 yds. I used the little can, turned it over twice and the doe came in on a diagonal. 15 min. latter I hit the can once more and noticed some movement to my right. She came within range but never got out from behind the brush. It made a believer out of me. I'm gonna need a bigger can.
