Young Buck Scrapes
Last night on my way to the stand i noticed there were some good scrapes on the edge of a bean field just before my stand which is only 30 yards farther into the timber. I was hunting and at about 6 o'clock I seen a spike buck come along that same trail and walk right towards the direction of another set of scrapes on the other field hedge row. This got me to wandering, do button bucks, spikes, and forks make any scrapes throughout the year? If so is it really that big of an importance? Thanks for all your time and effort in the advice.

RE: Young Buck Scrapes
I've seen them scrape and believe this is normal buck behavior. It's kind of like a cat burying it's poo. It's something it's born to do.
Scrapes and rubs are sign post to deer. They use them to communicate and to tell other deer who's been through an area and to mark territory. By rubbing they are leaving behind forehead gland scent for other deer in the same way they scentmark a scrape. So, to answer your question, Yes they will scrape and mark all year.
If so is it really that big of an importance?
To them yes. They are communicating. (Durring the rut it's a sexual thing)
