So mad I can't see straight! advise pls
Unbelievable! My buddy and I had always hunted public land or just asked permission. After dealing with crowded areas and road hunters while we were in the trees, we decided to try and lease our own spot. We found a spot near Omaha that has a lot of promise. There are other hunters in the same section, but the 240 acres is half trees and near a creek. We have been scouting all summer and put our stands up in July. Plenty of mineral blocks to keep the herd healthy. Two weeks ago, the action started to pick up and we were seeing plenty of young bucks. I even had my first experience with two bucks fighting. The pre rut was coming soon. Well, last week my buddy took Friday off to hunt and drove out to the property to see a big back hoe and two big trucks knocking down trees and diggin in the trees. He asked the guys what they were doing and he said the land owner has the property in a wet lands program and we need to move our stands so they don't crush them while moving the trees. Obviously, we are pissed. I called the leasing company and gave them heck and told them to tell the farmer to refund our money. Well, several calls back and forth and the farmer really wants us to stay. He will refund the money, but the hunting opportunities are definately limited now. They said they won't take any more trees out and they will be done by tomorrow. I think the deer will settle back down in a couple weeks, but it has ruined some of our bow hunting in the best time. What would you guys do?[:@]

some of my best huntingh is where they are taking out trees, thinning timber and clearning patches.it seems the deer don't mind the equipment and love the new cleared areas, more browse.
give it some time and see what happens.it may help the heard, who knows.[&:]

I guess I'd be a little ticked as well ,but the equipment won't bother the deer very much ,once it's gone they continue as normal.I'd stick it out for the season espeacially if this lease show's promise.Good luck this seaon I'm sure you'll be happy by the end of the season .Ask the farmer's when they're out in the field with their tractor's the deer couldn't give a darn .

It may actually improve the hunting by letting fresh tender garss grow in the clearings.
I hunt farmland that is a 4 hour drive from home. A couple of years age, I walked in the woods to find people cutting fallen logs for firewood. About 40 yards from where the guy was using a chain saw, I jumped 6 does and a spike.

Man you are really over reacting. Now ,go give the farmer his money back with an appoligey. Get yourself back out there and hunt. What you will find is they ain't hurt a thing. Deer will still be there, and if your any kind of a hunter at all you will be able to find them.

You should have a lease that spells out what happens in cases like this. Your lease gives you rights. One should be that the landowner can't do anything to your stand without contacting you first.
You should also take some responsibility here. It's up to you to find out what the owner has planned for the property. You may have been able to plan for this right from the start.

farming practices and other programs have to go on regardless of hunting season, just be glad they did not destroy your stands, had a logger get real ugly on me one time, they didn't like the pins i was using on my lock-on, she's just lucky she had arms like hulk hogan or i'da, well you get the idea, and like everyone else has mentioned it will propably make next year better

IMO the farmer is being more then fair. It sucks you paid to hunt and you've got some pretty big distraction durring the season but I'd stick it out. If you've scouted good you can figure deer won't cruise through the open areas durring the daylight hours so use what you know to determine their new travel patterns.
Stick with it and stick one!
Ps. I know you're pain. I arrived at hunting camp to see my favorite ridge clear cut. About 750 Acres so it could be worse.
