I originally thought bobcat or some type of cat, because I saw one (bobcat) bury a doe that got hung in the fence once. But since you saw no cat track I dont know..

Would Jstanley, Arthur P, and drstalkr please come to front and center for the right to be the next contestants on "Who Wants to be a Millionare"!
Yes, all the evidence that I saw leads me to believe with little doubt it is a badger. I have seen them first hand in this area and the paw prints would seem to be conclusive.
MQ1, with compliments like that I am going to get a big head. The problem is that there is already to much air between my ears. But the truth is I never get tired of your generous words.
John Deer, Rob/Pa Bowyer, you two really know how to make a guy feel good too. Thank you both for your kind words.
ShadowAce, I almost spit diet Pepsi all over my screen when I read your reply , very true!
Thanks for all who not only took the time to read this linquistic nightmare, but replied in kind.

You can thank your lucky stars that the badger was absent when you lifted your doe from the hole. Badgers can do some serious damage when their happy , tick them off and their worse than a rabbid dog!
