RE: how do you grunt in deer?
I've used the True Talker ever since it's been on the market. Great grunt tube. I have called in deer after spotting them and they were headed somewhere else. Called them right up into shooting range. I've also called deer in just doing random calling. I usually like to see em first, but I do like to call ever so often knowing I might catch that buck that is moving 60 yards away from me in the thicket. I hear the Can calls are good too C. H.

IME there isn't a technique that is set in stone. Probably the most important thing is not to over call. a grunt every 15-20 minutes is plenty, much more then that won't sound natural to deer.
As far as grunting goes I personally am not a huge fan of blind calling. that is grunting without seeing a deer. It has worked best for me when I see a deer that is moving away from me or if I want to stop a deer that is passing by. For blind calling I prefer to rattle. IME this is more effective but it will ultimately depend on deer density and the buck/doe ratio where you hunt. If the doe greatly out number the bucks calling and rattleing may be futile.

I'll blind call on occasion. Especially this time of year when there is still leaves on the trees which limit the range of sight. In fact I've had 3 young bucks respond to blind grunting so far this season. As adams mentioned there reallys isn't an exact way to do it every time. I will usually let out a couple grunts ever 20-30min unless I spot movement in the distance. Then I might grunt once or twice to try to get the deer in closer.

just from trial and error blind grunting has recked hunts for me unless I know for sure that there are no deer watching me or are to close than a blind grunt every 15 to 30 mins is what i do you never know what you will bring in. I find that if I see the deer a few blows on the grunt tube will usually bring him my way but never over grunt also a good time to grunt is before and after rattling but again never over call another time i found a grunt to work well is during the rut and even the pre rut is to use a doe bleat than a quick grunt call might bring in a dominent buck if he thinks that another buck is tring to romance his does. it dosen't always work but it has work more than once for me always know your surrondings to make sure there are no deer watching you, they can be very very sneaky

Like the rest of the guys say there is no exact science to calling/grunting. You are basically trying to sound like deer....pretty simple. I blind call more that most about every 10 minutes, but I never blind grunt. I use a doe bleat or fawn call when blind calling and it works for me. My area is very thick, visibility is poor and the deer seem to call more in this environment. On calm days I can hear deer talking on most hunts. When you are calling to an animal you can see that's when your judgement comes into play.....use your best judgement and build on your experience. My favorite scenerio is a doe and fawn talking to each other..... I called in a nice 8 point this Sunday with that one. I have better luck with the doe bleat than with the buck grunt and use that call the most. I use the Away Bowgrunter Plus as my main call and it works well especially with a full face mask and I back that up with the True Talker and a Lil Can. I have had deer not respond to my main call and come running to on of my backups. IMO calling deer really works...good luck
