Question on field dressing is it a regional thing?
Here in Michigan we tend to field dress our deer at the point of recovery. I’ve notice from some of the pictures posted here that southern bowhunter tend to bring in their deer whole from the field. Just wondering why their do this.

Cuz their Deer way 100 lbs and they can carry them over there shoulder like a sack of Corn.. There's no way WE Michiganders are gonna drag out a 200+ deer and then dress him... That would be insane

When I get my first deer, I will field dress it where I find it. It is just too dang hot to leave the guts in. I think the reason why southern hunters don't field dress their deer is because they are small enough already. They post the weight hoping you don't catch it!

All deer i've ever got were field dressed where they lay and skinned as soon as I got them hung up. We hunt for meat as well as other reasons, and if you don't cool the meat off quickly, it just doesn't taste as good!!

Most people in the south hunt at a deer camp. The camp will have a skinning area. It is much easier and cleaner to load the deer in the truck or ATV and take it to the "skinning rack". I have only field dressed one deer, my 2003 buck from IL. Couldn't get an atv to him.

I always field dress them where they fall in gun season. Alot of times in bow season I will take them out somewhere else to not mess around the stand area any more than I have to. I don't know if this makes a difference but I figure the less sign laying around the stand the better.
